Summary

Bluestaq Limited commits to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050. For its first reporting year, 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026, the total footprint is 40.2 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e). Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions are zero because the company operates fully remotely with no office or vehicles, so the footprint is almost entirely business travel. The interim target is to halve emissions intensity to approximately 4.7 tCO2e per full-time equivalent (FTE) by 2030, from a baseline of 9.5 tCO2e per FTE. This plan follows PPN 006 and has been approved by the board.

1. Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Bluestaq Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

Bluestaq Limited is the United Kingdom sovereign subsidiary of Bluestaq LLC, a technology company that delivers advanced software for the space and defence sectors, with a particular focus on secure data integration and sharing. In the UK and Europe, Bluestaq Limited provides operational support and consultancy around these capabilities. The company began UK trading in May 2025 and operates a fully remote model with no office premises and no company vehicles.

This commitment covers the UK operations of Bluestaq Limited. It is owned and supported by the board, and the environmental measures set out in this plan will be in effect and applied when performing relevant contracts. This is a standalone Carbon Reduction Plan specific to Bluestaq Limited, published in accordance with PPN 006.

2. Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases produced before the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. They are the reference point against which reduction is measured. Our baseline year is 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026, the company's first 12 months of UK trading.

The footprint is reported using the financial control boundary and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Standard, with tCO2e calculated using the UK Government emission conversion factors. As 2025 to 2026 is the first year of trading, this baseline also serves as the current reporting year. Bluestaq Limited operates fully remotely with no office, no company vehicles and no company-procured electricity, so Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions are zero. The footprint is therefore concentrated in Scope 3, principally business travel. Business travel is calculated from the company's travel and expense records for the period, using UK Government conversion factors, with air travel including radiative forcing. Flights are reported at the cabin class funded by the company, which is premium economy; where individuals personally fund a cabin upgrade, that portion falls outside the company's financial control boundary. Long-haul premium-economy flights are by far the largest source. Data quality will continue to be reviewed in each subsequent reporting cycle.

Baseline year: 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026
Emissions scopeTotal (tCO2e)
Scope 1 (direct emissions)0.0
Scope 2 (purchased electricity)0.0
Scope 3 (included sources)40.2
Total emissions40.2

The table below shows the in-scope Scope 3 sources for the period.

Scope 3 breakdown (required subset)
Scope 3 sourceTotal (tCO2e)
Business travel by air (measured flights, including launch-week flights, and a held booking)33.3
Business travel by ground (car mileage, rail, taxi and rental car)3.9
Hotel stays and accommodation1.0
Employee commuting and homeworking1.7
Waste, water, and upstream transport and distribution0.3
Total Scope 340.2

3. Current Emissions Reporting

Reporting year: 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026. As this plan covers the first year of UK trading, the current reporting year is the same as the baseline year. Future plans will report each year against the baseline so progress can be tracked.

Reporting year: 1 May 2025 to 30 April 2026
Emissions scopeTotal (tCO2e)
Scope 1 (direct emissions)0.0
Scope 2 (purchased electricity)0.0
Scope 3 (included sources)40.2
Total emissions40.2

Emissions intensity for the period is approximately 9.5 tCO2e per FTE, based on an average of 4.25 FTE staff. Intensity is the fairest measure of progress for a growing business and is used to set the interim target below.

4. Emissions Reduction Targets

To continue progress towards Net Zero, Bluestaq Limited has adopted the following targets:

  • Net Zero by 2050. An absolute commitment to Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions across UK operations by 2050 at the latest.
  • Interim target to 2030. Reduce emissions intensity by 50%, from approximately 9.5 tCO2e per FTE in the 2025 to 2026 baseline to approximately 4.7 tCO2e per FTE by 2030.

The company expects significant headcount growth and the future adoption of an office. An intensity target ensures the commitment remains meaningful as the business scales, while the absolute Net Zero commitment governs the long-term trajectory. The measures set out below support this trajectory and will be in effect when performing relevant contracts.

Projected reduction trajectory

2025 to 2026 (baseline year)9.5
2030 (interim target, 50% reduction)4.7
2050Net Zero

5. Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed and current measures

The following measures are already in effect and have shaped the baseline footprint. Together they avoid the office energy, commuting and on-premise computing emissions that a comparable business would carry.

  • A fully remote operating model, eliminating office energy use (Scope 1 and Scope 2) and employee commuting emissions.
  • Cloud-hosted service delivery, using efficient shared data-centre infrastructure rather than dedicated on-premise hardware.
  • Digital-first, paperless working across all operations.
  • Rail as the default mode for UK travel where practicable.

Planned future measures

To deliver the targets above as the company grows, Bluestaq Limited will implement the following:

  • A sustainable travel policy: video conferencing as the default to reduce the number of trips, consolidation of US travel, preference for direct flights, and a preference for the lowest practical cabin class on long-haul routes, which are the single largest source of the footprint.
  • When an office is adopted, selection of energy-efficient premises, procurement of 100% renewable electricity backed by Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO), and avoidance of fossil-fuel heating where practicable.
  • Sustainability expectations embedded in procurement and supplier selection as the supply chain develops.
  • Certified carbon offsetting for residual emissions once the company has scaled, applied only after reduction measures, not as a substitute for them.
  • Adoption of a recognised environmental management standard, such as ISO 14001, as the team grows.
  • Year-on-year improvement of Scope 3 data quality, moving from estimates towards measured activity data.

6. Standards and references

  • HM Government (2025) Procurement Policy Note 006: Taking account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the procurement of major government contracts.
  • HM Government Technical standard for the Completion of Carbon Reduction Plans (PPN 006).
  • World Resources Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.
  • World Resources Institute and World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Accounting and Reporting Standard.
  • Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors for company reporting.

7. Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with PPN 006 and the associated guidance and reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans. Emissions have been reported and recorded in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Greenhouse Gas Reporting Protocol corporate standard, and use the appropriate UK Government emission conversion factors for greenhouse gas company reporting. Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions have been reported in accordance with Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) requirements, where required, and the required subset of Scope 3 emissions have been reported in accordance with the published reporting standard for Carbon Reduction Plans and the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and signed off by the board of directors, or equivalent management body, of Bluestaq Limited, and published on the Bluestaq Limited website.

Recruitment

Recruitment Privacy Notice

How Bluestaq Limited handles your information when you apply for a job. Version 1.0, June 2026. Classification: Public.

Thank you for your interest in working at Bluestaq Limited. This notice explains, in plain terms, what personal information we collect about you when you apply for a role, why we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have.

Who is responsible for your information

Bluestaq Limited is the data controller for the information we collect during recruitment, which means we decide how and why it is used. Our registered office is 30 Old Bailey, London, EC4M 7AU, and our company number is 16270771.

For anything about your personal data or your rights, contact our Data Protection Lead at DPA@bluestaq.uk. For questions about the recruitment process itself, contact recruitment@bluestaq.uk.

What information we collect, and where it comes from

Depending on the role and how far your application progresses, we may collect:

  • Information you give us: your name and contact details, your curriculum vitae (CV), work history, qualifications, and the things you tell us in your application and interview.
  • Information we create: notes and assessment records from your interview, and the results of any culture or values assessment.
  • Information from others: references from the referees and previous employers you name, the results of right-to-work and background checks, and, for some roles, the outcome of security vetting carried out by United Kingdom Security Vetting (UKSV) and criminal record information from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
  • Information you choose to give: if you complete an equal opportunity monitoring form. This is voluntary, is kept separate from your application, is used only in anonymised and aggregated form, and has no effect on the outcome.

Do you have to provide this information?

Some of the information we ask for is necessary for us to consider your application, for example your contact details, your work history, and the evidence we need to confirm your right to work and, for some roles, your eligibility for security clearance. If you choose not to provide it, we may not be able to take your application forward. An equal opportunity form is the exception and is always optional.

Why we use your information, and our legal basis

Under data protection law we must have a valid reason, called a lawful basis, for using your information. The main ones we rely on in recruitment are set out below in plain terms.

Lawful bases relied on in recruitment
Why we use itOur lawful basis
To assess your application, decide whether to offer you a role, and communicate with you about itOur legitimate interest in running a fair and effective recruitment process to identify suitable candidates, and taking steps at your request before entering a contract
To check your right to work in the United KingdomOur legal obligation
To carry out pre-employment screening and, where needed, security clearanceOur legal obligation and a task carried out in the public interest. For criminal record and vetting information we rely on conditions in the Data Protection Act 2018, supported by an Appropriate Policy Document
To keep anonymised equal opportunities recordsOur legitimate interests, with the equality of opportunity condition in the Data Protection Act 2018. Taking part is optional

Background checks and security vetting

Because the work we do involves defence and national security, some roles require security clearance. If your role needs it, you will go through pre-employment screening to the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and, where required, National Security Vetting (NSV), such as Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV).

Vetting is carried out by UKSV, and we sponsor applications through ADS Group. Some clearances have United Kingdom residency requirements, and we will explain what applies to your role. We also carry out right-to-work checks and, where relevant, a basic DBS check. Because this involves criminal record and other sensitive information, we rely on conditions in the Data Protection Act 2018 and we keep an Appropriate Policy Document that explains how we protect this information. You can ask us for a copy.

Your vetting information stays in the UK. Information collected for security vetting is handled within the United Kingdom through UKSV and ADS Group. We do not send your vetting information outside the United Kingdom.

Who we share your information with

We share your information only where it is necessary, and only with:

  • Our hiring managers, and where relevant our Security Controller and vetting point of contact.
  • UKSV and ADS Group, for security vetting.
  • Our information technology and software providers, who host our systems securely on our behalf.
  • Bluestaq LLC, our parent company in the United States, as part of group recruitment and human resources (HR) administration.

We do not sell your information, and we do not share it for marketing.

Sending information outside the UK

Your information is shared with our parent company, Bluestaq LLC, in the United States as part of group recruitment and HR administration. We protect this transfer using an International Data Transfer Agreement, the safeguard approved by the United Kingdom regulator, supported by a transfer risk assessment. You can ask us for a copy of the safeguard at any time. As noted above, your security vetting information is not sent outside the United Kingdom.

Automated processing

Some parts of our assessment, including any culture or values questionnaire, use automated scoring to produce results. Those results are an indicator only. A member of our recruitment team reviews them alongside your interview and other evidence, can disagree with the score, and makes the decision. No decision about your application is made by automated means alone. You can ask us to explain how a result was produced, tell us your view of it, and have it reviewed by a person. To do this, contact recruitment@bluestaq.uk.

How long we keep your information

  • If your application is unsuccessful, we keep your information for six months after the decision, then securely delete it.
  • If your application is successful, your recruitment information becomes part of your personnel file and is kept in line with our employee retention schedule.
  • We do not keep your details for future vacancies unless you have asked us to.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information we hold about you; to have it corrected; to have it deleted in certain circumstances; to restrict or object to how we use it, including a specific right to object to processing based on legitimate interests; to receive it in a portable format; and not to be subject to a decision made by automated means alone. To use any of these rights, contact DPA@bluestaq.uk. We will respond within one calendar month.

How to contact us, and how to complain

For anything about your personal data, contact our Data Protection Lead at DPA@bluestaq.uk. For the recruitment process, contact recruitment@bluestaq.uk. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the United Kingdom regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
